Oil Conference: Investment opportunities in Algeria presented in Houston to U.S. investors
APS - 5 may 2016
WASHINGTON - Investment opportunities in the Algerian oil and gas sector were showcased at an Algeria Information Day held on the sidelines of Offshore Technology Conference, the oil and gas industry yearly event meeting in Houston, Texas.
By now a tradition, the Houston conference attracted a large number of delegates from oil companies and business communities from Texas and other American states, as well as a large delegation representing the Sonatrach Group and led by its CEO Amine Mazouzi.
During Algeria Information Day, which was jointly organized by the Embassy of Algeria in Washington and the U.S.-Algeria Business Council (USABC), Ambassador Madjid Bouguerra and Sonatrach representatives made a presentation on the Algerian economy and the considerable progress made in improving the business climate in Algeria.
The Algerian delegation and Ambassador Bouguerra discussed investment and partnership opportunities at meetings with numerous corporate leaders from oil and gas companies already operating or interested in operating Algeria.
Algeria Information Day also showcased Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) who praised in a very remarkable speech the efforts deployed by Algeria to promote national economic development.
In her remarks, Congresswoman Jackson-Lee also paid a moving tribute to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, whom she met on several occasions, including in 2009, and whose vision and efforts "have enabled Algeria to regain peace and security and to achieve great strides in the areas of economic and social development."
"I am delighted to also highlight the great efforts deployed by President Bouteflika to advance and protect human rights in Algeria and elsewhere," she said, adding that, thanks to him, "Relations between the United States and Algeria have now reached a remarkable level of excellence."
At the end of her remarks, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee presented Ambassador Bouguerra and USABC President Dr. Smaïl Chikhoune with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition for their efforts to develop relations between the two countries.
