In the perspective of the upcoming election of the members of the People’s National Assembly (Algerian parliament), scheduled to take place on June 12, 2021, the Embassy of Algeria in Washington D.C. draws the attention of the Algerian community members registered in the electoral list of its consular district, that Articles 157 to 168, of the Ordinance No. 21-01 of March 10, 2021, related to the organic law of the electoral system, and the decision corresponding to March 22, 2021 concerning the vote of Algerian nationals living abroad, define the conditions and modalities concerning the vote by proxy in the elections.
Thus, voters residing abroad who are registered in the electoral lists can exercise their right to vote by proxy at their request, at diplomatic or consular representations, if they are unable to perform their duty. It should be noted that no one is allowed to have more than one power of attorney.
Algerian nationals registered in the electoral list of the Embassy of Algeria in Washington D.C., wishing to exercise their right to vote by proxy can do so by filling out and signing a specific form (which will be provided on site) at the consular section. If they cannot come to the Embassy, they can fill out and sign this form (link), notarize it and mail it to the Consular Section.
It should be noted that the period for issuing proxies ends three days before voting day.
