Algeria "strongly condemns" terrorist attack in Sebha

ALGIERS- Algeria has "strongly" condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the Libyan police roadblock at the entrance of Sebha in Libya, resulting in the death of two officers and injury of five policemen, the Foreign Ministry said in a communiqué.

"Algeria has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted, on 7 June 2021, a Libyan police roadblock atthe entrance of Sebha in Libya," said the source.

"Two officers died and five policemen were injured following this attack," the same source said.

"Algeria which keeps recalling its position and full solidarity with the Libyan brothers reiterates its unconditional support to Libyan authorities in their constant efforts to ensure security and political stability in the country," added the Foreign Ministry.

"Algeria expresses, in this regard, its sincere condolences to the Libyan government and its people, as well as the martyrs' families wishing a prompt recovery to the injured policemen," said the same source.

In addition, the Libyan Interior Ministry instructed Monday the directorate of security and units of criminal investigation to open an inquiry into the attack.
