Algerian films to compete at 12th FIFOG

GENEVA- Five Algerian films will compete at the 12th Geneva International Oriental Film Festival (FIFOG) which will be held from 1 to 9 April, said the event’s organizers on the festival’s website.
Feature film “Timgad” by French-Algerian filmmaker Fabrice Benchaouche, a comedy which has been recently screened in Algiers, will compete in the international section along with eight other films, including “ Foreign body” by Raja Amari from Tunisia and “Wedding dance" by Cigdem Sezgin (Turkey).
"Chroniques de mon village" (Chronicles of my village), a fiction by Karim Traidia, and animation film “Tales of Africa" (2015) by Djilali Beskri will compete for the “Prize of the critics.”
The film "Echappée” (2015), co-directed by Hamid Saidji and British Jonathan Mason, will compete in the short film category with thirteen other works, including "Ailes voilées" from Italy and "Aya va à la plage" (Morocco).
Outside competition, the short silent film "Chaabanou! un quotidien sans commentaire" (Chaabanou! A daily life without comment) by Mourad Bouamrane and "Kociela" by Tahar Houchi will also be screened in this edition.
