AU must take coercive measures against any member who violates its decisions
ALGIERS- The African Union (AU) is called to take coercive measures against any member who does not respect its decisions in order to preserve its credibility, said Monday in Algiers Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar.
In a statement to the APS, in reaction to the rejection by the Kingdom of Morocco of the latest decision of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the AU on the Western Sahara issue, Taleb Omar said that this decision "came at the right time" especially after the blocking of the UN plan to settle the conflict, adding that "the African Union must enforce their decisions by concrete measures.
"After 30 years of procrastination on the part of Morocco, the AU and its Council are entitled to address the conflict in Western Sahara," said the Sahrawi Ambassador.
In this respect, he reiterated his call for the reactivation of the role of the continental organization and the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.
