10th Algeria-EU Association Council meeting opens in Brussels

BRUSSELS- Algeria and the European Union started Monday in Brussels the 10th session of the Association Council instituted by the Algeria-EU Association Agreement signed in 2002, and implemented in 2005, establishing an open dialogue and overall cooperation between the two sides.
The annual meeting is co-chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
During the political dialogue meeting, whose works are being held in camera, Algeria and the European Union are due to discuss the current state and prospects of cooperation.
They will also examine ways and methods to give their partnership a fresh impetus, according to a diplomatic source.
The Association Council will review the priorities of EU-Algeria partnership, and especially the implementation of the Algerian Constitution, governance and civil society, support for the diversification of Algerian economy and commercial relations.
The meeting's agenda also includes migration issues, movement of people and cooperation in the energy field.
