ALGIERS- The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held discussions Thursday in Tripoli, Libya, with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest, the ministry said Thursday in a statement.
Held on the sidelines of the conference on Libya Stability Initiative, the meeting was an opportunity for both parties to express their satisfaction with the level of cooperation between their respective countries in various areas, including energy.
They also stressed their commitment to broaden, diversify and promote relationships on the basis of mutual trust, while agreeing on the preparatory process for the high-level bilateral meeting due to be held soon in Spain
At the regional and international levels, the two ministers exchanged views at length on developments in Libya, Mali and the Mediterranean region.
The issue of Western Sahara was also discussed as deliberations were to be held in a Security Council meeting to prepare a draft resolution on the renewal of the mandate of MINURSO.
An international conference aimed at supporting stability in Libya opened earlier in the day, with the participation of the minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, and a number of countries and international organizations.
The participants pledge support for the transition period in Libya until general elections are held in December.
