Lamamra discusses with Qatari counterpart

ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra held, as part of his working visit to Doha, in his capacity as the personal envoy of the President of the Republic, a working session with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday in a statement.

During this meeting, the two ministers expressed "their satisfaction with the level of the bilateral relations thanks to the close cooperation and fraternal understanding as well as the common determination of the two countries' leaders, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Tani, to develop and raise these relations in order to build a strategic partnership in all fields," said the source.

The two sides examined the cooperation mechanisms between the two countries and the preparations for the next bilateral events, notably the exchange of high-level visits and the holding of the next session of the joint bilateral commission under the presidency of the two countries' heads of government, as well as the enrichment of the legal framework of cooperation and partnership, according to the source.

At the regional level, the two countries' heads of diplomacy broached the developments of the situation in the Arab world, notably the Libyan crisis on which they emphasized the necessity of continuing the efforts to relaunch the political solution to the crisis and avoid undermining the sovereignty, unity and stability of Libya.

They also exchanged their views on several issues about the African continent and the prospects to promote peaceful and political solutions to the crises compromising the efforts aimed at promoting stability and economic development, added the source.
