16 May 2021

ANKARA-The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, co-chaired Monday the works of the first session of the Joint High-Level Cooperation Council.

The meeting of the Council, which brings together the delegations of both countries, took place at the Presidential Council ahead of the one-on-one meeting between President Tebboune and his Turkish counterpart under his state visit to the Republic of Turkey.

In parallel with this meeting, sectoral meetings were held between the ministries of Housing, Solidarity and Micro-enterprises.

Before the meeting, a solemn welcome was offered to the President of the Republic by his Turkish counterpart at the Presidential Complex, where the national anthems of the two countries were performed and a detachment of the Turkish Military Guard paid him the honors.

The creation of the High-Level Cooperation Council between Algeria and Turkey had been announced in early 2020, on the occasion of the visit of the Turkish President to Algeria.
