Flag raising ceremony to mark 62nd Revolution anniversary in Algiers

ALGIERS- A flag raising ceremony was held Monday, at midnight, in celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution (1 November 1954), in the Sanctuary of the Martyrs, Algiers, in the presence of the minister of Mujahideen, Tayeb Zitouni, and minister of Youth and Sports, El Hadi Ould Ali, as well as national personalities, war veterans and representatives of different national institutions and civil society.
A ceremony held at the Museum of the Moudjahid (national liberation war veteran) under the theme "November 54, Glory and Unfailing Reference," during which a documentary was screened about the different chapters of Algeria's history, entitled "Our Memory, Source of Pride."
In an address, Minister of Mujahideen said the date of November 1st is considered as a message of "loyalty to the sermon of our glorious martyrs and the principal of November 1st (Revolution)."
The national liberation war is one of "the greatest revolutions in the world," Zitouni said.
Algeria, "with its strong principles and (glorious) history is a peace exporting country worldwide," he stressed, adding that 1 November 1954 carries an "eternal" message.
The minister paid a glowing tribute to President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and the People's National Army, for their role in preserving the country's stability and security.
