Libya: Lamamra calls for "influential groups to fully fulfill" their role to settle crisis
APS - 14 March 2017
BRUSSELS (Belgium)- The minister of State, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra said Monday, in Brussels, that the responsibility of the international community towards Libya is “collective,” calling for all the “influential groups” to “fully” fulfill their role in favour of a peaceful settlement to the crisis.
In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of the High level meeting of the EU-Algeria Association Council, Lamamra said that the international community must rely on only one agenda likely to “support and encourage Libyans to build an understanding that will likely reach a peaceful settlement of the crisis and national reconciliation, and which will be acclaimed by the various components of the Libya people.”
The head of the Algerian diplomacy said that the meeting, which will bring together Secretariats of the Arab League, the United Nations, The African Union Commission (AU) and the high Representative of the European Union, and which will take place soon at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, will be “extremely important.”
He added that this group, which will be “supplementary,” could help all the international stakeholders to “set their action within the framework of one agenda."
