Macron underlines shared willingness to strengthen economic relations, combat terrorism

ALGIERS- French President Emmanuel Macron underlined Wednesday, in Algiers, the shared willingness between France and Algeria to strengthen the economic ties and cooperation in terms of the fight against terrorism.

"We have broached several bilateral issues, notably the shared willingness to strengthen the economic ties, as well as issues that will be discussed in the 4th Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee (CIHN)" which will be held Thursday, in Paris, under the co-chairmanship of two Prime Ministers Ahmed Ouyahia and Edouard Philippe, said Macron following his talks with President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

He also expressed his "hope to develop projects in Algeria," citing notably a digital school to allow training young people in this field and a, Algerian-French joint investment fund to support the small and medium-sized companies in the diversification of Algeria's economy.

President Macron said that he broached with the head of State "policies of visa with the hope to have a simplified framework and also to better monitor the fight against illegal immigration."
