ALGIERS-Premier Ahmed Ouyahia on Tuesday expressed his satisfaction with the "remarkable quality" of Algeria-Spain relations, and affirmed that bilateral cooperation "is progressing harmoniously." "Our satisfaction results from the remarkable quality of bilateral ties and historical relations free of disputes, based on the Friendship, Good Neighbouring and Cooperation Treaty signed in 2002 by his Excellency President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his majesty the King of Spain," said Ouyahia in a speech ahead of his talks with President of Spanish Government Mariano Rajoy Brey, broadened to members of both delegations.

For the PM, the quality of bilateral ties is reflected "in our fruitful bilateral political dialogue." Bilateral cooperation is progressing harmoniously and has already culminated in fifty agreements sealed in the recent years and in almost all sectors," he continued.

Discussions with the Spanish party "will allow us share analysis on political, diplomatic and security-related issues that particularly interest our two governments, including the fight against terrorism, translational crime and illegal migration as well as conflicts in the Maghreb, the Middle East and the Sahel regions, and regional cooperation, notably in the Mediterranean space," assured Ouyahia.

"Our economic relations do hold our attention and this is why we decided to organize today in Algiers a business forum bringing together several businesspersons representing Algeria and Spain, besides our talks on this side of our cooperation," he continued.

"Such steps reflect both sides' willingness to develop cooperation and exchanges in line with our complementary potentialities and the key role we play in the Maghreb and Mediterranean regions and Europe," stressed Ouyahia. "Algeria reaffirms its willingness to boost ties with Spain in these fields," said Ouyahia, expressing "his great satisfaction" with the 7th Algeria-Spain High Level Meeting.
