Resolution of Libya crisis: EU "clearly" endorses Algeria's approach

BRUSSELS – The European Union "clearly" endorsed Algeria’s approach to encourage a "Libyan solution" to the crisis in the country, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra said Wednesday in Brussels.
The EU diplomacy chief "Federica Mogherini has clearly said that she as well as the European Union (EU) supported the Algerian approach and the crucial role of the neighboring countries" in the settlement of the Libyan crisis, he said following his meeting with Mogherini at the headquarters of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The EU’s position regarding the Algerian diplomatic action for the resolution of the Libyan crisis "encourages us to make further efforts to bring the Libyan protagonists to constantly work together to reach a Libyan agreement and solution and that the international community can support," he added.
During the “substantive” talks, Lamamra and Mogherini had "deeply" examined the situation of Sahel region and the peace in Mali since the EU has participated the mediation team and the talks having led to the signing of Peace Agreement, which resulted from Algiers process.
Speaking about the cooperation between the EU and the African Union (AU), the foreign minister said that the two sides are "convinced that the prospects will be promising."
He added that "Mogherini pledged to comply with what has been agreed under Africa-Europe strategic partnership" in the areas of security, the fight against terrorism and migration as well.
