ALGIERS- Army Central Museum commemorated Tuesday the 60th anniversary of the French nuclear tests in the Algerian Sahara, through a historical conference addressing the events, the ministry of National Defence said in a statement.
Placed under the theme "French nuclear explosions in Algerian Sahara ... unforgettable crime," the meeting started by the screening of a documentary on the issue, followed by a debate, including a number of academics.
The speaker underlined the historical aspect of the explosions and their after-effects on the local population, praising the efforts of the People's National Army in rehabilitating the sites of the French nuclear explosions and making them safe, the statement said.
The conference was attended by officers and officials of the People's National Army and university teachers, the statement concluded.
