Algeria reports 126 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, 6 deaths

ALGIERS- A total of 126 new confirmed Covid-19 cases and six fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,382 and that of deaths to 425, said Sunday the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the progress of coronavirus pandemic Djamel Fourar in a press briefing.

The six deaths were recorded in Blida (2), Setif (1), Bordj Bou Arreridj (1), Tebessa (1) and Bouira (1), said Fourar in a daily press briefing devoted to the progress of the pandemic, adding that the number of confirmed cases is spread over 47 provinces, while the number of recovered persons reached 1,508, including 29 in the last 24 hours.

He said that the 25-60 age group represents 54% of all confirmed coronavirus cases, while 65% of deaths concern the people aged 65 and over.

A total of 18 provinces haven't recorded any new cases this Sunday, while 17 provinces recorded between 1 and 3 cases, and 12 others recorded more than 4 cases, he added, underlining Constantine, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Oum El Bouaghi and Bechar are the provinces with the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours.

The number of patients under treatment reached 5,863, comprising 2,293 cases confirmed by laboratory tests and 3,570 suspect cases diagnosed by radiology and scanner, he said, pointing out 37 patients are still under intensive care.
