ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in a High Security Council meeting on Sunday, gave "firm" instructions to all relevant sectors, urging them to maintain a high level of vigilance and an "active mobility to face any eventuality," the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement.
"As part of the measures initiated by the public authorities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), the president of the Republic, minister of National Defense, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired at the presidency's headquarters on Sunday, 1 March 2020, a coordination meeting with the members of the High Security Council during which the prime minister made a briefing about the latest developments of the coronavirus outbreak," the statement said.
"Following the presentation of the prime ministers, who stressed that the situation is completely under control, the president of the Republic gave firm instructions to maintain a high level of vigilance and an active mobilization of the sectors concerned to face any eventuality," the statement said.
Other issues relating to security were tackled during the meeting, "about which the president of the Republic gave specific instructions to enhance surveillance and security measures along the borders," the statement concluded.
