ALGIERS-One hundred and seventy-six (176) confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), 121 recoveries and 6 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in Algeria, announced Tuesday Spokesperson of the Scientific Committee in charge of monitoring the coronavirus pandemic evolution Professor Djamel Fourar.
The number of confirmed cases hit 7377 and that of deaths to 561 while 3746 patients recovered, said Prof Fourar at a press briefing on the evolution of the pandemic.
The new deaths were reported in the provinces of Blida, Oran, Tiaret, Sétif, Ouargla and Sidi Bel Abbès, detailed Prof Fourar.
Patients aged 25-60 represent 57% of the total number of patients with Covid-19 and the 65+ age group represent 67% of deaths, he continued.
All confirmed cases have been reported in 48 provinces and 19 provinces reported no case on Tuesday. Algiers, Sétif, Annaba, Khenchela and notably Constantine are the provinces that reported the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours. The provinces of Algiers, Oran, Annaba, Constantine, Tipasa and Setif recorded the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours, said the speaker.
The number of patients under treatment hit 12,433 including 5220 confirmed cases through PCR tests and 7213 suspect cases diagnosed with radiology and CT scans while 26 patients remain in intensive care, he continued.
