ALGIERS-Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad participated Tuesday in a meeting via videoconference of the Contact Group on Libya as a representative of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced the Prime Minister's office in a communiqué.
The Contact Group was established in accordance with the decisions taken at the 33rd African Union (AU) Summit and upon recommendation of the Peace and Security Council of the Organization. This mechanism is aimed at "coordinating international efforts to achieve a lasting solution to the Libyan crisis through an inclusive dialogue."
During the meeting, Djerad reiterated "Algeria's constant position" based on "dialogue and national reconciliation as the only alternative to preserve the unity, security and stability of Libya, and thus avoid division, violence and fratricidal struggles."
He also expressed "Algeria's willingness to continue diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Libyan crisis."
