ALGIERS- French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian will pay a two-day visit to Algeria, Thursday and Friday, at the invitation of his counterpart, Sabri Boukadoum, the ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday in a statement.
"In addition to the talks that the chief of French diplomacy will have with his Algerian counterpart, he will be received in audience by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad", specifies the MFA communiqué.
According to the statement, "the trip, which is part of the regular consultations on the political and economic agenda agreed between Algeria and France for the year 2020, will allow us to take stock of the progress made, on both sides, in bilateral cooperation."
It noted that bilateral cooperation has been "marked in recent months by important events, such as the 6th session of the Algerian-French Joint Economic Committee, held in Algiers on 12 March 2020."
The two sides will have "an exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest, including the situation in Western Sahara, the Malian issue, the situation in the Sahel region and the crisis in Libya, the resolution of which will be the focus of discussions between them," according to the statement of the ministry of Foreign Affairs.
