Presence of women in elected Assemblies is source of pride for Algerian society

ALGIERS- Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Noureddine Bedoui affirmed Saturday, in Algiers, that "the presence of women in the elected Assemblies is a source of pride for our Algerian society."
"The presence of women today in the national and local elected assemblies is a source of pride for our Algerian society and we are only in the beginning of this process," said Bedoui in the audience that he granted to the Director of the Regional Bureau of the United National Development Programme (UNDP), in charge of Arab countries, Mourad Ouahba.
The minister added that "President of the Republic has taken historic decisions enshrined by the Algerian Constitution and implemented on the ground and we are proud of the participation rate of women in the national and local elected Assemblies."
For his part, Director of UNDP Regional Bureau extended his thanks to "President of the Republic for his contribution to the international community and United Nations, in terms of promoting women's role."
He also welcomed "the role of the Algerian women, as militants for the independence and during the difficult years experienced by Algeria, in the development and progress process."
