Coronavirus: 133 confirmed cases, 127 recoveries and 8 deaths in last 24 hours

ALGIERS-One hundred and thirty-three (133) confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), 127 recoveries and 8 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in Algeria, announced Sunday Spokesperson of the Scientific Committee in charge of monitoring the coronavirus pandemic evolution Professor Djamel Fourar.

The number of confirmed cases hit 9267, i.e. 21 cases for 100,000 inhabitants, and that of deaths to 646 while 5547 patients recovered, said Prof Fourar at a press briefing on the evolution of the pandemic.

The new deaths were reported in the provinces of Medea, Algiers, Laghouat, M'sila, Tipaza, Ghardaïa, Oran and Ouargla, detailed Prof Fourar.
Patients aged 65+ age represent 66% of deaths, he continued.
All confirmed cases have been recorded in 48 provinces and 29 of them reported rates below the national rate while 21 others recorded no cases in the last 24 hours.

The provinces of Constantine, Sétif, Laghouat and Blida reported the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours, said the speaker.
The number of patients under treatment hit 17,445 including 8,056 confirmed cases through PCR tests and 9,389 suspect cases diagnosed with radiology and CT scans while 28 patients remain in intensive care, he continued.
