Coronavirus: 463 new cases, 392 recoveries, seven deaths in last 24h

ALGIERS- Four hundred and sixty-three (463) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 392 recoveries and seven deaths have been recorded over the past 24 hours in Algeria, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the progress of the coronavirus pandemic, Dr Djamel Fourar, said Monday in Algiers.

The total of confirmed cases in Algeria amounts to 16 404 (37 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the number of deaths to 959 and that of recovered patients to 11 884, Dr Fourar said in his daily briefing on the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He noted that people aged 60 years old and over represent 73 % of the death toll.
Thirty-five provinces have been below the national rate (in Covid-19 cases) while 12 others have recorded no positive cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the health official, 16 provinces have recorded between one and five cases and 20 others have reported more than six cases each.
Dr Fourar added that 51 patients are still under intensive care.
