Covid-19: Algeria records 607 new cases, 349 recoveries and 9 deaths in last 24 hours

ALGIERS- A total of 607 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, 349 recoveries and nine deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, said Monday, in Algiers, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the progress of coronavirus pandemic Djamel Fourar.

The total number of confirmed cases has reached 23,691,including 607 new cases reported this Monday, i.e. 1.4 cases for 100,000 inhabitants, that of deaths 1087 while the number of recovered patients has reached 16,400, , said Fourar in a daily press briefing devoted to the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A total of 28 provinces recorded a rate lower than the national average, while five provinces didn't report any case, ten others recorded between 1 and 5 cases and 33 provinces recorded more than six cases each.

Sixty four patients are currently under intensive care, added Fourar.
The same official underlined that the current epidemiological situation requires from all citizens vigilance and respect of the hygiene rules and physical distancing, stressing the obligation of wearing masks and respecting the lockdown.
