Coronavirus: 494 new cases, 276 recoveries and 7 deaths in Algeria in last 24 hours

ALGIERS- Four hundred and ninety-four (494) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 276 recoveries and 7 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, said Monday in Algiers, the spokesman of the Scientific Committee for monitoring the Coronavirus pandemic pandemic, Dr. Djamel Fourar.

The total number of confirmed cases thus amounts to 19,689, i.e. 1.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths rose to 1,017 while the number of patients who recovered is 14,019, Dr. Fourar told the daily press briefing on the Covid-19 pandemic.

73% of deaths represent the age category of 60 and over, added Fourar.
In addition, 31 provinces reported a rate (of the pandemic) below the national average, while 10 provinces did not report any new positive cases over the past 24 hours, while 15 others recorded between 1 and 5 cases, and 23 provinces registered more than 6 cases each. In addition, 61 patients are currently in intensive care units, said Dr Fourar.
