Coronavirus: 107 new cases, 151 recoveries and 6 deaths in last 24 hours

ALGIERS- 107 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), 151 recoveries, and 6 deaths were recorded during the last 24 hours in Algeria, said Wednesday in Algiers Spokesman of the Scientific Committee in charge monitoring the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic, Djamel Fourar.

The total number of confirmed cases is 9,733, or 22 cases per 100,000 people, and the number of deaths is 673, while the number of cured patients has risen to 6,218, Fourar said during the daily press briefing on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new cases of deaths have been recorded in the provinces of Biskra (2 cases), Bejaia (1), Algiers (1), Setif (1) and El Oued (1), said Fourar, adding that people aged 65 years and over account for 66% of the total number of deaths.

In addition, 29 provinces have recorded rates below the national rate, while 20 others have recorded no new positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

In addition, the number of patients who have benefited from the current treatment protocol is 18,681, including 8,305 confirmed cases according to virological tests (PCR) and 10,376 suspect cases according to imaging and CT scan indications, Fourar added, adding that 32 patients are currently in intensive care.

Finally, the same manager recalled the imperative to show "permanent caution, to strictly respect the conditions of hygiene, social distancing, confinement and to wear a mask under all circumstances in order to contain the pandemic."
