Covid-19: Algeria reports 104 new cases, 86 recoveries and 9 deaths in last 24 hours

ALGIERS- A total of 117 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, 152 recoveries and nine deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, said Tuesday, in Algiers, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the progress of coronavirus pandemic Djamel Fourar.

The total number of confirmed cases has reached 10,382, i.e. 23.6 cases for 100,000 inhabitants, that of fatalities 724 while the number of recovered patients has reached 6,951, said Fourar in a daily press briefing devoted to the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new fatalities were recorded in the provinces of Bouira (2 cases), Algiers (2 cases), Annaba (1), Jijel (1), Biskra (1), Laghouat (1) and El Oued (1), said Fourar, adding that people aged 65 and over represent 66% of the death cases.

A total of 29 provinces recorded rates below the national rate while 13 others haven't recorded any new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

The number of patients under treatment has reached 20,578, of whom 8,967 are cases confirmed by laboratory testing and 11,611 suspect cases diagnosed by radiology and scanner, said Fourar.
A total of 39 patients are currently under intensive care, he added.
