Industry : Algeria exported over 1.5 million tonnes of Cement during the first 9 months of 2019

ALGIERS- Algeria exported more than 1.5 million tonnes of cement during the first 9 months of 2019, notably to Mali and Niger, said Monday, in Algiers, Secretary General of Trade Ministry Karim Gueche.

“This dynamic must be accompanied by the public authorities by implementing the necessary facilitations notably transport and logistics,” said the official in a press briefing on the sidelines of the 1st international conference on cement export and its competitiveness at the international level (CEICA 2019), held at the Centre of Exhibitions in Algiers.

According to Gueche, Algeria must be proud of its cement production capacities estimated at nearly 26 million tonnes per year, while the national consumption needs are from 20 to 21 million tonnes per year, “enabling the country to benefit from a surplus of this product that could be exported notably to the African countries.”
