Afghanistan earthquake: Algeria expresses solidarity

ALGIERS- Algeria has expressed its solidarity with Afghanistan following the devastating earthquake that hit the east of the country, causing human and material losses, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Wednesday in a statement.

"Algeria expresses its fraternal solidarity with Afghanistan following the devastating earthquake that struck the east of the country, causing significant human and material losses," said the statement.

"Algeria presents its sincere condolences to the victims' families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured", said the same source, adding that "Algeria is convinced of the brotherly Afghan people's capacity to overcome this painful ordeal thanks to the necessary solidarity and support from the international community."

More than 1000 Afghans died and no less than 1500 people were injured following the strong earthquake that hit Wednesday in Afghanistan.
