BELGRADE-The Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aimene Benabderrahmane stressed, Monday in Belgrade, that the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of the concerns of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which is fully aware of its historical, moral and legal responsibilities and reaffirms its unwavering support to the Palestinian people.

Speaking at a high-level meeting celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Belgrade in 1961, the Prime Minister said that "the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of the concerns of our movement which is fully aware of its historical responsibilities, moral and legal and reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their struggle to wrest their inalienable national rights, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Al Quds as capital city.

Algeria also reiterates "the commitment and attachment of Algeria to the Arab Peace Initiative which enshrines the two-state solution and the liberation of occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan," he said.

"Algeria, which is one of the founding members of this movement, has spared no effort to strengthen the Non-Aligned Movement, defend its principles and achieve its goals, even before its independence. It welcomes the achievements of the movement since its creation as a forum that integrates the efforts of all peoples of the South," said Benabderrahmane.

"Algeria, which is the Mecca of revolutionaries and fervent defender of just causes around the world, has always supported liberation movements in Africa, Asia and Latin America and has never ceased to defend their causes and to commit to provide their struggle with moral and material support," he said.

"It has contributed through the call made by late Houari Boumediene for the establishment of a new world economic order that frees the Third World from the yoke of neo-colonialism at Conference of Non-Aligned countries held in 1973 in Algeria," said Benabderrahmane.
