Trafficking in Persons

Algeria has made significant progress in preventing and combating trafficking in persons, while handling the heavy burden generated by migrants fleeing conflicts and deteriorating socioeconomic conditions in some sub-Saharan regions and taking advantage of its geopolitical location to continue onward to northern destinations or to settle in its territory.

While the phenomenon of human trafficking remains marginal in Algeria, the Algerian legislation has adjusted the country's domestic laws to include a number of provisions derived from international instruments ratified by Algeria.
