ACCRA- With a total of nine medals (2 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze), the Algerian fencing team ranked second at the African Championships (juniors), organized from 18 to 20 February in Accra (Ghana), the Algerian Federation of Fencing said on Tuesday.
On the 3rd and last day of this African event, devoted to the team events, the Algerian teams harvested five new medals (1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze).
The gold medal was snatched by the female ream, made up of Benadouda Chaimaa, Mohamed-Belkebir Kaouther, Benchakour Naila and Driss Oumaima, in the sabre event.
The four silver medals were won by the female teams (epee and foil) made up of fencers Hebal Celia, Benchakour Selma, Guemar Chaima, Meriem Mebarki and Zeboudj Sonia, the male team (epee) thanks to Dellali Souhil, Fellah Dani Adem, Sadli Rayane and Abderrahmane Sami, and in the sabre event by Saad Youcef, Abrehane Lotfi, Abderrahmane Sami and Delali Souhil.
The Algerian team grabbed four medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze) in the individual events.
