ALGIERS- Algeria will apply for hosting the Africa Football Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said that it has withdrawn the organization of the major continental sporting event from Guinea, the minister of Youth and Sports Abderrazak Sebgag said Saturday.
"It is time for Algeria to organize large-scale events, and we will submit a good application file for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and we will show that Algeria can do it," said Abderrazak Sebgag.
"CAF's inspection delegation expressed satisfaction with the sports facilities ahead of the Africa Championship of Nations (CHAN 2022) Algeria will host next January," the minister told reporters shortly before the draw ceremony for the CHAN 2022.
The head of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, said Saturday in Algiers that the body governing football in the continent is ready to receive applications for the hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025), after it had withdrawn the organization of the event from Guinea.
